School can be a really tough environment for a laptop & a lot of BYO devices get damaged accidentally
It’s important to protect the device as much as possible – these are our recommendations:
- Choose a laptop that has a clip on case available – like a phone case, this will provide some protection from being dropped
- Consider a keyboard membrane – this will offer some protection from accidental spills while it’s being used
- Buy a tight fitting slip case or hard case for when the laptop is in the school bag – this will provide some protection from leaking water bottles and being knocked around
- Students must bring a fully charged laptop to school each day, it’s a good idea to also bring a laptop charger to school and have a spare at home
- Headphones are required for Year 7 and 9 students during NAPLAN testing

Tip – Never carry the laptop charger in the same case as the laptop, just get a little pencil case or similar for the charger and keep it seperate in the school bag
Tip – Discourage your student from leaving pens or anything on the keyboard while it’s being used – it’s very easy to close the lid of a laptop onto a pen and crack the screen
Tip – All of these accessories can be purchased inexpensively from online retailers – look for durable products with good reviews
