BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Setup Guide

Setup at home

Please note – if you have a Windows laptop and setup using your eduPass account – Microsoft Edge should automatically open Office and Compass tabs

Office 365

Office gives you access to your emails (Outlook), Teams, Onedrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

Open a tab in your web browser and navigate to Office.com

Sign in using your eduPass credentials (@schools email address and password)

You can access the Office web apps from the Apps menu on the left hand side

Please install the desktop apps on your laptop via the blue install apps button on the right

Compass

Compass gives you access to your timetable, classes, lesson plans, learning tasks, excursions, attendance, and reports

Open another tab in the same web browser and navigate to sandringhamsc-vic.compass.education

Click on the orange icon to log in automatically

Adobe Creative Cloud

From Compass School Favourites menu (star icon) click on Adobe Products

On the sign in screen, click More sign-in options & then Continue with Microsoft to log in automatically – otherwise please sign in with your eduPass credentials

Download and install Creative Cloud for Desktop as well as any other Adobe applications you require

Teams and Onedrive

Teams can be downloaded and installed on your laptop – Sign in using your eduPass credentials

OneDrive keeps the files synced between your Onedrive cloud storage and your laptop – Sign in using your eduPass credentials

NAPLAN

NAPLAN Lock Down Browser can be installed for students in Year 7 and 9

Minecraft for Education

You can download and install Minecraft for Education – Sign in using your eduPass credentials

Setup at school

Please attempt the following on your first day at school

connect to eduSTAR Wi-Fi

Select the eduSTAR Wi-Fi from your laptops Wi-Fi menu – Sign in using your eduPass credentials

students can login using just their eduPass username (ie. with or without the @schools.vic.edu.au)

add the FindMe Printer

Students have access to print via the FindMe printer – print jobs can be released at any photocopier by tapping your Compass Student ID Card.

For Windows users

Press the Window key + R together to open the Run Box (the Windows key is left of the space bar)

type \\8739shps into the Run box and click OK (the backslash is above the enter key)

If prompted, please enter your eduPass credentials

Double click on the FindMe printer to install it

Click Yes on the Security Notification

For Mac users

Go to System Settings, click Printers and Scanners

Click Add Printer, Scanner or fax.. button

select FindMe printer and click Add

Important final step for Mac users – the first time you print to the FindMe printer a window will appear asking for credentials

Please enter your Compass code and school password (You can get your Compass code from the Compass Dashboard under your name)
