Select Entry Academic Learning (SEAL)

The Select Entry Academic Learning (SEAL) Program at Sandringham College is designed for students who demonstrate high intellectual potential and a strong capacity for advanced learning across multiple domains.
English, Humanities, Mathematics & Science

SEAL students are also encouraged to participate in a range of extension opportunities and co-curricular programs, including the arts, sport, leadership and student voice, supporting the development of well-rounded, high-achieving learners.

Program Features

The Sandringham College SEAL program:

  • Provides a challenging and accelerated curriculum across core academic areas
  • Covers traditional content at an increased pace, enabling deeper exploration and abstract thinking
  • Develops critical thinking, creativity and intellectual curiosity
  • Supports students to learn alongside like-minded peers in a rich learning environment
  • Recognises and responds to the diverse needs and strengths of high-ability learners
  • Builds strong foundations for success in senior VCE pathways
  • Is delivered by highly skilled teachers with expertise in engaging and extending gifted students.

The program is carefully structured to meet the differing needs of students, ensuring both challenge and support throughout their learning journey.

SEAL Applications - Year 7 2027

Entry to the SEAL program is via application and entrance examination.

Applications close: 24 July 2026

SEAL Entry Examination: Saturday 1 August 2026, 9:00am – 12:00pm at the Bluff Road Campus – Discovery Centre

Supporting Documentation (due by 31 July 2026)

Applications are submitted via the Edutest portal and must include:

  • Grade 5 NAPLAN report
  • Grade 6 Semester 1 school report
  • Student statement outlining their interest in SEAL and suitability for the program
  • Letter of recommendation from a current teacher, Principal or community leader 

Special Conditions

In accordance with the Department of Education Placement Policy, selection processes cannot occur prior to Year 7 placement offers.

Students may only apply for the SEAL program if they have received an offer of enrolment at Sandringham College for Year 7 in 2027.
