Art Academy

Sandringham College Art Academy

The Sandringham College Art Academy is a selective, after-school extension program for students in Years 7–9 who demonstrate a strong interest and aptitude in the visual arts. Approximately 10 students are selected from each year level through a competitive application process due to high demand.

The program is designed to develop technical skill, artistic discipline and creative thinking. Students work in a cross-year level environment, building advanced skills in drawing, painting and printmaking, and developing the knowledge and portfolio required for success in VCE Art Creative Practice. The program also supports students to develop skills and knowledge that feed into VCE Visual Communication and Design and VCE Theatre Studies.

The Art Academy reflects the College’s commitment to high expectations and creative excellence, while also connecting students to the broader artistic community. Across the three-year program, students engage with experienced teachers and visiting artists, gaining insight into contemporary practice and creative industries.

Workshops are held weekly after school (Wednesdays) to ensure there is no disruption to core classroom learning.
