Student wellbeing

A strong and coordinated support network is central to ensuring every student is known, supported and able to succeed academically. At Sandringham College, this is underpinned by the strategic allocation of a full-time staff at each campus, working as part of a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary team.

Our support network includes the Assistant Principal – Wellbeing & Engagement, Year Level Leaders, Wellbeing Coordinators, Mental Health Practitioners, Department of Education Student Support Services Officers (SSSO) and a range of external agencies.

Individual Support

Our Student Wellbeing Team provides confidential support for students when needed. In the first instance, parents and students are asked to speak with the relevant Head of Year or Year Level Leader who will coordinate appropriate support.

Where required, students may be referred for a confidential appointment with a trained wellbeing professional for further assessment and support.

Group programs

A range of targeted group workshops are delivered throughout the year as part of our Life Skills program. These programs support students to develop key capabilities and are tailored to their stage of development.

Workshops focus on areas including mental health, physical wellbeing, safety and personal development, providing students with practical strategies to support their growth.

Community Support

Students and families can also access a wide range of external services, including Headspace, Community Health Services, local council youth services and private providers.

We encourage families to consult their GP when seeking additional support. The College can also assist with advice and referrals to appropriate services where required.

Our commitment

Sandringham College is committed to the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children and young people. We are dedicated to providing a safe, supportive and respectful environment that promotes dignity, builds confidence and enables every student to thrive.
