Careers program

Sandringham College provides a comprehensive and structured careers program that supports students from Years 7–12 to make informed decisions about their pathways, subject choices and future careers.
Our approach

Our Careers Program is designed to ensure every student develops clarity, confidence and direction for life beyond school. Through structured support, expert guidance and strong partnerships, we enable students to successfully transition into university, further training or employment.

Our Careers Team including the Careers Coordinator, VET Coordinator, VCE-VM Work Placement Coordinator and Department of Education funded Headstart Coordinator works collaboratively to provide consistent guidance and support at every stage of a student’s learning journey. Students and families are able to access individual careers counselling to explore options and plan for post-school success.

The Careers Team supports students with:

  • University, TAFE and training pathways
  • Course and career planning
  • Subject selection guidance
  • Apprenticeships, traineeships and cadetships
  • Resume writing and interview preparation
  • Work experience and structured workplace learning
  • VTAC and VCAA processes
  • Scholarships, open days and enrichment opportunities
  • Part-time employment and pathway exploration
Year-level Careers education
Year 12

Students are supported to make informed post-school decisions, with a strong focus on tertiary pathways, employment and transition planning. Early engagement with the Careers Team is encouraged to ensure students are well-prepared for end-of-year decision-making.

Year 11

Students receive targeted careers counselling as part of the subject selection process, supporting pathway alignment and preparation for senior studies. Individual appointments are available to explore future options in greater depth.

Year 10

All students participate in structured careers education linked to subject selection and pathway planning. Students are also supported in preparation for work experience, including skill development and workplace readiness.

Year 9

Students undertake a dedicated careers program in Term 2, including career exploration, Morrisby Report careers profiling and individual counselling. External careers specialists support students to better understand their strengths and interests. Parents and carers are encouraged to be involved in this process.

Years 7-8

Students are introduced to careers education through class-based activities and presentations, building early awareness of pathways and future opportunities.
